Homemade Garam Masala


1tbsp Cumin / Jeera
1tbsp aniseed /Badi Saunf
3tbsp coriander seeds / Dhania
10nos clove /lavang
2tbsp black pepper / kali miri
5nos black cardamom / badi elaichi
15nos green cardamom / Choti Elaichi
6-7inch Cinnamon stick / Dalchini
2 large pinch nutmeg / Jaiphal powder
3-4 pieces mace / Javitri
1-2nos star anise/ Badiyan Phool

1. In a pan roast the spices separately.

2. Let the roasted spices cool in a plate.

3. Grind the cooled spices to a fine powder & sieve to get rid of the whole spice pieces left
While grinding .the pieces of spice may leave a bitter taste in mouth if found while eating .So it’s best to sieve the powder & store in a glass airtight bottle.

4. This garam masala can be used for gravies, kebabs& any pulav or biryani preparation.
